Gregory Russell Cope, 55, of Mt. Vernon, formerly of Cassville, passed away on Saturday, April 13, 2013, in Abilene, Texas. He was born Jan. 6, 1958, in Bakersfield, Calif., the son of the late Gerald and Ellen (Harkey) Cope. On Jan. 6, 1994, he married Glenda Moss-Feeney in Eureka Springs, Ark.

He was a 1976 graduate of Cassville High School and was baptized and accepted Christ at an early age. He started driving a truck at the age of 18 for the Frozen Foods Express Company in Dallas, Texas, and was currently driving for Head Waters Trucking Company in Sarcoxie.

Survivors include: his wife, Glenda, of Mt. Vernon; three stepdaughters, Gayle Hoogstraet and her husband, Greg, of Springfield, Crystal Wood and her husband, Jimmy, of Golden City, and Katie Feeney, of Cassville; three sisters, Karen Cope, of Pleasant Hill, Tara Cope, of Jenkins, and Dawn Cope-Earnest and her husband, Ray, of Springfield; one brother, Tony Cope and his wife, Diana, of Butterfield; and his mother-in-law, Nancy Moss, of Springfield.

A funeral service will be held at 7 p.m. on Thursday at the Fossett-Mosher Funeral Home, Mt. Vernon.

Visitation will be held from 6 p.m. until service time in the funeral home chapel.
