Exeter High School English teacher William Schlichter, who is also a current graduate student at Missouri State University, attended the 2013 Broadcast Education Association (BEA) National Festival of Media Arts during the week of April 7. Mr. Schlichter was recognized for placing in the BEA annual script contest. He received third for writing a television spec script episode of "The Walking Dead." "It shows you can write for a current television show," Schlichter said. "Part of the screenwriting program at MSU is to get exposure for one's writing. No, it won't get made into an episode of "The Walking Dead. It took a lot of hard work to complete and hopefully will open doors to becoming a published author. "
