Purdy vocalists achieve success at district competition

A total of 45 Purdy High School vocalists competed in 24 events at the 2013 District Choir Festival, held at Missouri Southern State University in Joplin.

Sixteen students achieved I ratings and will advance to the state competition.

Soloists advancing to state include: Katherine Wise, Phillip Roller, Madison Vice, Alissa Graham, Dana Cunningham, Esmeralda Perez, Bailey Spears and Kaitlyn Carpenter.

The men's ensemble, consisting of Tyler Jones, Devon Keeler, Tanner Marshall, Russell Gonzalez, Nat Alden and Phillip Roller, advanced to state with a 1 rating, as did the mixed ensemble consisting of Madison Vice, Dana Cunningham, Tyler Jones, Devan Keeler, Nat Alden, Phillip Roller, Bailey Spears and Kaitlyn Carpenter also advanced. The senior girls' ensemble of Madison Vice, Dana Cunningham, Bailey Spears, Jacey Staponski, Taylor Reynolds, Kaitlyn Carpenter and Brittany Hayes also won a I rating.

The State Choir Festival will be held on April 27 at the University of Missouri in Columbia.
