Cassville's new clerks are on the job
Karen Jennings, of Cassville, has been hired to serve as the City of Cassville's new city clerk. She was sworn into the position at the council's meeting on Monday night.
The city has also filled an accounting clerk position, which will replace the finance officer position currently held by Darelyn Cooper, who is retiring in May. Jennifer Evans, also of Cassville, is now serving in the new clerical position.
Jennings has over 21 years of experience in administrative positions with a variety of non-profit organizations, including the Boys and Girls Club in Stockton, Calif., where she worked for 10 years. She has served as operations manager for community action agencies and administrative assistants for non-profit groups.
"This position is akin to non-profit," said Jennings. "It is not the same, but it is related, and the position is located where I live. I commuted for seven years, and I'm excited to be working in my community."
Evans has a bachelor's degree in mathematics from Southwest Baptist University. Prior to starting a family, Evans served as a teacher, but for the last 13 and a half years, she has served in a part-time position at First State Bank in Cassville.
"I have been part-time since I began having children 15 years ago," said Evans. "I decided it was time to re-enter the full-time workforce again. I enjoy accounting and office work so I thought this would be something I would enjoy doing."
In addition to working at First State Bank, Evans has served as the manager of the Cassville Senior Apartments for several years. She is also a member of Hometown Sound and the RedHots and J Rock and the Third Street Band.
