Three injured in recent wrecks
Three people were injured in recent area wrecks.
According to a report from the Missouri State Highway Patrol, Brent Wormington, 21, of Purdy, sustained serious injuries when he lost control of the 2004 Yamaha motorcycle he was riding on Highway 37 and the vehicle traveled off the side of the highway. The wreck occurred at 1:30 p.m. on Sunday about four miles south of Purdy.
Wormington was taken by ambulance to Cox Hospital South in Springfield.
* Two people were injured in a three-vehicle crash that occurred at 2:47 p.m. on Wednesday, April 3, on Highway 86 about three miles west of Fairview. The crash occurred when the driver of a 1996 Acura, Timothy S. Smith, 52, of Cassville, crossed the center line and struck a 2004 Infinity, driven by Juan T. Vasquez, 41, of Berryville, Ark., and a 2006 Chevrolet Avalanche, driven by Melissa R. Parker, 34, of Fairview, head on. The Avalanche ran off the roadway, striking a ditch and a fence, while the Acura ran off the roadway and struck a fence. Both Smith and Parker sustained moderate injuries and were taken by ambulance to Freeman West Hospital in Joplin. Smith was not wearing a seat belt; Parker was. Vasquez was also wearing a seat belt.
