Billie C. "Bill" Garner, 78, of Monett, passed away April 1, 2013, while at Cox South Hospital in Springfield.
He was born on April 26, 1934, in Eagle Rock, son of the late Floyd and Golda (Reed) Garner. He grew up in the Cassville area and had attended school in Butterfield until his junior year when he began going to school in Cassville. He graduated from Cassville High School in 1951. He then enlisted in the U.S. Army, where he was stationed in Germany. He was employed as meat department manager for Moss Market and for Ramey, retiring from Cassville Ramey in 1997. He was also a USDA food inspector. He was a member of the St. John's Lutheran Church in Monett and a former member of the Cassville Lions Club.
|On Dec. 29, 1962, at St. John's Lutheran Church, Bill and Carlene Brown were united in marriage.||Survivors include: his wife, Carlene, of the home; one sister, Jean Conn, of Aurora; one sister-in-law, Patsy Garner, of Cassville; and one brother-in-law, Edward Brown, of Nashville, Tenn. He was preceded in death by two brothers, Willis and Wesley Garner.|
A celebration of life service was held April 5 at the St. John's Lutheran Church in Monett. Rev. Richard Cody officiated. Interment was at Russell Cemetery, Butterfield. Arrangements were by Buchanan Funeral Home, Monett.
