Betty Louise (Slater) Leforgee, 87, of Shell Knob, passed away, Tuesday, April 2, 2013, in Mercy Hospital, Berryville, Ark.

She was born in Fredonia, Kan., on Sept. 9, 1925, the daughter of William "Bill" and Martha Ann (Dewitt) Slater.

Survivors include: one son, Thomas James "Jim" Colston and his wife, Cris, of Neosho; two daughters, Jaynee Langley and her husband, Danny, of Shell Knob, and Martha Dietsch, of Leavenworth, Kan.; one brother, Edward Slater, of Oregon; and one sister, Ike Thorton and her husband, Carl, of Kansas; 15 grandchildren; and 11 great- grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Marvin Leforgee, and one son, Michael.

She grew up in Kansas and graduated from high school in Fredonia, Kan. She went to nursing school in Portland, Ore., and became a licensed practical nurse. She moved to Shell Knob in 1970 and worked at Carroll General Hospital in Berryville, Ark., and South Barry County Hospital, Cassville. She also was a candy maker and worked at Andy's Candies in Eureka Springs, Ark. Betty was of the Methodist faith.

No services are planned at this time. Cremation arrangements are under the direction of Fohn Funeral Home, Shell Knob.

In lieu of flowers, all memorials may be made to Kornerstone Teen Youth.
