CPD makes 28 stops during enforcement campaign

Wednesday, April 3, 2013

The Cassville Police Department participated in a statewide youth seatbelt enforcement campaign from March 15 through March 31, resulting in 28 traffic stops.

During the enforcement effort, a total of 11 traffic tickets were issued, including four for seat belt violations and seven for speeding.

"Seat belts are the single best defense in a crash," said Cpl. Donald Privett, of the Cassville Police Department. "Law enforcement will continue to encourage drivers to make a simple, smart choice to buckle up and arrive alive."

Despite evidence proving the benefits of wearing a seat belt, nearly 33 percent of teen drivers do not buckle up. Eight out of 10 Missouri teens killed in traffic crashes are unbuckled.
