Vendors needed for 2013 senior fair
The Barry County OACAC Neighborhood Center is currently accepting vendors for its 2013 senior fair, which will be held at the Crowder College Cassville Campus Community Center from 8 a.m. to noon on Friday, Sept. 20.
"This was such a fun event last year," said Gail Reed, Barry County OACAC director. "We have a lot of information available to help seniors and senior caregivers. We are planning to offer some different information from new vendors this year.
"I hope all community members will mark their calendars for this year's event so that they don't miss out on the new information that will be offered regarding services that are available to our local seniors," added Reed.
Vendors that participated in last year's senior fair offered information on medical and dental services, insurance, financial and legal services, home health, long-term care, emotional health, end-of-life services, advanced directives and funeral pre-planning.
In addition to the information offered at last year's fair, this year's event will showcase home security and disaster services available to seniors. The event will also offer more information on nutrition, and Neighborhood Center staff members are working to recruit businesses that offer hearing and vision screening services for the 2013 senior fair.
Businesses and organizations can obtain vendor applications at the Barry County Neighborhood Center, which is located on Highway 248 in Cassville.
Admission to the senior fair is free. In addition to visiting vendor booths, attendees will have the opportunity to sign up for door prize drawings that will be held throughout the event.
Business sponsors and door prize donations are needed for the 2013 senior fair.
"Anyone is welcome to volunteer to help with the fair or help with planning," said Reed. "We would also appreciate any ideas for services that benefit seniors that should be included at this year's fair."
The next planning meeting will be held at the Neighborhood Center at 2 p.m. on Tuesday, April 16. The planning meetings are open to the public.
