Spring opportunities

Wednesday, April 3, 2013

This weekend, area residents will have a lot of opportunity to get outside, enjoy the seasonal spring weather and support the local economy.

On Friday and Saturday, the Cassville Area Chamber of Commerce will hold its annual spring sidewalk sale. During this event, businesses in downtown Cassville will entice shoppers by displaying an assortment of products on the sidewalks outside their stores. As shoppers browse the displays on the exterior of our local retail stores, we would like to encourage shoppers to step inside these local businesses to see some of the other spring merchandise on display.

Barry Countians will also have the opportunity to visit the Cassville Farmers' Market when it opens on the south side of the square this Saturday. Garden Sass Farmers' Market Association vendors will offer an assortment of arts and crafts items and baked goods from 7 to 11 a.m.

The Saturday market has been made possible through a partnership with the Garden Sass Farmers' Market Association and the Cassville Main Street Association, which is working to raise interest in and funds for the revitalization of downtown Cassville. Both of these groups hope to see the Saturday events grow to offer numerous vendors and attract a multitude of people to the square each week.

There will be many more opportunities to support the local economy during the coming weeks and months, including the Cassville Chamber's Dogwood Car, Truck and Motorcycle Festival and May Friday Squared event, but area residents shouldn't pass by the spring opportunities this weekend. You never know what kind of deals or new products you'll find at the sidewalk sale or the Saturday market, and every dollar you spend will give a boost to our local economy.
