Bridge construction planned southwest of Monett

Tuesday, April 2, 2013

Barry County will replace the bridge over a dry stream bed on Farm Road 2040, approximately three miles south of Monett.

The bridge is located between the extension of Eisenhower Street on Farm Road 1070 and Farm Road 1060, one mile to the west.

Construction was scheduled to begin on Monday, April 1 and last for approximately six weeks.

According to Cherry Warren, presiding commissioner for Barry County, the county will pay for the project entirely from the emergency bridge fund. Pre-fabricated steel will be used to replace the clear span bridge, extending approximately 53 feet in length. Chad Grainger will serve as contractor.

Pete Rauch, with the Monett Special Road District, said the county chose the project on its own. The road district asked to have construction delayed until after winter weather. North-south traffic can bypass construction by detouring to Farm Road 1060.
