Sophomore pilgrims

Sunday, April 7, 2013

Silver Leaf Benefit Club of Cassville has selected two area high school sophomores to represent Cassville and Exeter high schools during the annual Sophomore Pilgrimage in Jefferson City, taking place April 9. Grace Gouvion will represent Cassville High School. She is the daughter of Mark and Tammy Gouvion, and Lydia Alverson, daughter of James and Teresa Alverson, will represent Exeter High School. Students are chosen based on leadership, citizenship and service. The annual event is designed to increase students' knowledge of government, promote leadership and citizenship and provide a view of state government in action. Following a tour of the State Capitol, students will have lunch with the top six elected officials and the Chief Justice Richard B. Teitelman, of the Missouri Supreme Court. Officials will discuss the responsibilities of office. The Sophomore Pilgrimage is sponsored by the Missouri Federated Women's Clubs. Silver Leaf Benefit Club is a local member of the state organization. Pictured above, from left, are: Gouvion and Alverson.
