Meghan Rickett, a junior at Southwest R-5 School in Washburn, will be advancing to state music competition on April 27. Rickett took home a I rating on her solo performance of "Minuet" by Mozart during the district competition that took place on March 2 at Missouri Southern State University in Joplin. She was accompanied by her music teacher, Glenda McCullough. "I'm nervous and excited," Rickett said. "This is the first time I have gone to state." Rickett will be traveling to the competition, scheduled to take place in Columbia, with McCullough. She will be joined by her parents, Michael and Suzanne Williams, and plans to scout colleges while visiting the area. "I'm hoping to get a music scholarship," she said.
