Leeson (Meador) Cardoza, 91, of Springfield, passed away on Thursday, March 28, 2013, at Mercy Hospital in Springfield. She was born on July 12, 1921, daughter of Clarence Edwin and Dora (Hawk) Meador, in Cassville.

Following her graduation from Cassville High School, she attended Southwest Missouri State Teachers College and received her teaching degree in elementary education. She retired from teaching after 50 years of service. In 2000, she moved to Springfield from St. Louis.

On Dec. 23, 1947, she was united in marriage to Joseph Cardoza, who preceded her in death in 1997. She was a member of St. Louis Crestwood First Baptist Church in St. Louis.

In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by one brother, Raymond Meador, and two sisters, Lona Mae Keen and Ruby Rohlfing.

Graveside services were held Tuesday at the Oak Hill Cemetery, Cassville, with Pastor Doyle Russell officiating.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Susan B. Komen Foundation and entrusted to the White Funeral Home Crematory, Cassville, Missouri.
