WILLIAM DEAN "BILL" SIMON
William Dean "Bill" Simon, 77, of Golden, passed away Saturday, March 30, 2013, in his home.
|He was born Aug. 8, 1935, in Hutchinson, Kan., the son of Floyd and Doris (Curless) Simon. On June 23, 1959, in Hutchinson he was united in marriage to Verda Smith, who survives.||Additional survivors include: one son, Robert Dean Simon and his wife, Linda, of Ozawkie, Kan.; two daughters, Lori Wilks and her husband, Doug, of Golden, and Pam Camp and her husband, Larry, of Vancouver, Wash.; one sister, Beverly Beck-Gaultney of Peachtree City, Ga.; seven grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.|
Preceding him in death were his parents and one brother, Jerry Simon.
He grew up and received his education in Hutchinson, Kan. On Feb. 25, 1955, he entered the U.S. Army, serving until Dec. 29, 1956. For several years, he was employed by AT&T in Hutchinson, Kan. In 1999, Bill and Verda retired and moved to Bella Vista, Ark., to make their home. In 2008, they moved to Golden to be closer to family. He was a member of First Southern Baptist Church of Golden and served as the sound man, running the sound system for the church services.
Memorial services with military honors were held today (Wednesday) at First Southern Baptist Church, Golden. Pastor Woody Fletcher conducted the services. Cremation arrangements are under direction of Fohn Funeral Home, Cassville.
