Juanita June Thomas, 82, of Purdy, passed away on Wednesday March 13, 2013, after a four-year struggle with cancer, at the Cassville Health Care Center in Cassville. She was born Jan. 31, 1931, in Verona, the daughter of the late Earl and Aquilla (Johnson) Swadley. She was united in marriage on March 22, 1947, in Butterfield to Paul "Red" Thomas, and he survives.

She was a cafeteria worker for the Purdy School District, and she was a member of the Chapel of Grace Church in Monett.

Additional survivors include: one son, Jim Thomas and wife, Ruthie, of Cassville; two daughters, Pauletta Lowe and husband, Jack, of Cassville, and Patti Brooks and fiance, Troy, of Rocky Comfort; one sister, Freda Mann, of Independence; seven grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by both her parents, and three brothers, Ronnie, Red and Junior.

Services were held March 19 at the Bennett-Wormington Funeral Chapel in Monett with Rev. Jimmie Copley and Rev. Larry Henbest officiating. Burial followed at Purdy Cemetery in Purdy.

Memorial donations may be made to Hospice Compassus, the American Cancer Society, or Chapel of Grace Church in Monett.

Arrangements were under the care of Bennett-Wormington Funeral Home in Monett.
