Clarence Richard "Dick" Whittington, 77, of Shell Knob, passed away Tuesday, March 12, 2013, in Autumn Hill Nursing Home, Berryville, Ark.
He was born Oct. 4, 1935, in Chicago, Ill., the son of Clarence and Susan Bernice (Alsip) Whittington. On Oct. 9, 1954, in Chicago, he was united in marriage to Leatrice Joanne "Lea" Smith, who survives.
Additional survivors include: three sons, Richard Scott Whittington and his wife, Deborah, of Morris, Ill., Timothy Whittington and Sandra Watson, of Cave Creek, Ariz., and Bryan Whittington and his wife, Heather, of Kankakee, Ill.; two daughters, Patricia King and her husband, Kenneth, of Braidwood, Ill., and Pamela Thompson, of Vidor, Texas; nine grandchildren; and 19 great- grandchildren.
Preceding him in death were his parents; one son, Christopher; five brothers and sisters; one grandson; and two sons-in-law, Robert Thompson and Jack Ritchey.
|He grew up and received his education in Illinois. For several years, he was a dry storage warehouse supervisor, from which he retired. In 1995, he moved from Manhattan, Ill., to Shell Knob to make his home. He was a member of Holy Family Catholic Church in Shell Knob.||No services are scheduled at this time.
