Fue Yia Chang, 72, of Salida, Calif., passed away Monday, March 11, 2013, at his son's home in Exeter.

He was born May 14, 1940, in Long Khan, Laos, the son of Xai Khu Chang and Mee Xiong. In 1967, he was united in marriage to Ka Xiong, who survives.

Additional survivors include: three sons, Long Chang and his wife, May Houa, of Exeter, Pao Chang and his wife, Monica, of Modesto, Calif., and Dan Chang and his wife, Kao Yang, of Vacaville, Calif.; nine daughters, Ong Lee and her husband, John, of Cassville, Shoual Chang and her husband, Mo Phetchamphone, of Modesto, Calif., Pang Moua and her husband, Ya, of Cassville, Mai Chang, of Modesto, Calif., May Yang and her husband, David, of Modesto, Calif., Jan Yang and her husband, Blong, of Sacramento, Calif., Jill Chang and her husband, Kenneth Steeley, of Salida, Calif., Tisha Chang and her husband, Steven Martinez, of Modesto, Calif., and Julie Chang, of Cassville; one sister, Joua Her and her husband, Wa Moua, of Laos; 29 grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

Preceding him in death were his parents; two sons, Tong Chang and Fong Chang; two brothers, Neng Lao and Ghia Hue; and one sister, Mao.

He received eight years of his education in Laos and at the age of 40, studied five years in the United States. He was a self-employed rice farmer. He was in the secret service during the Secret War. In 1980, he moved from Thailand to the United States to make his home. He was an all around handyman.

Services will be held from 12 noon until midnight Friday, March 22, from 8 a.m. until midnight Saturday, March 23 and from 8 a.m. until 11 a.m. Sunday, March 24, 2013, under direction of McQueen Funeral Home, Wheaton.

Burial will be at St. Peter and Paul Cemetery in Pulaskifield.
