Event to offer information for upcoming election
On March 21, area community members are invited to attend Breakfast and Ballot Issues, which will be held at the Cassville United Methodist Church at 7:30 a.m. The event is sponsored by the Cassville Area Chamber of Commerce.
Breakfast and Ballot Issues will offer information that voters can use in the upcoming April 2 election. Candidates and individuals representing ballot issues who choose to attend the event will have an opportunity to give a short introduction and then answer questions.
"I have the opportunity to network with other chamber directors across the state and this idea has worked well for other communities, so I wanted to give it a try in Cassville," said Mindi Artherton, chamber executive director. "I thought it was a great idea and felt like our membership would appreciate the opportunity to become educated on the ballot issues before going to the polls.
"We all hate the feeling of going to vote and having no idea whom or what we are voting for," said Artherton. "This breakfast will provide one avenue for our voters to become educated about the issues on the ballot. I hope they will find it helpful and encourage everyone to head to the ballots on April 2."
The questions used at the event will be preselected from questions submitted to the chamber office prior to the breakfast. Each candidate or issue representative will have a limited amount of time to answer the question addressed to them.
The event will be structured as an educational opportunity and not as a debate.
Chamber members are invited to submit questions by emailing email@example.com or by calling the chamber office at 847-2814.
All questions will be considered, however, final question selection will be made by representatives of the local newspapers. The deadline to submit questions is Wednesday, March 20. Questions will not be accepted at the event.
The Cassville Area Chamber of Commerce will provide a breakfast of scrambled eggs, biscuit, fruit, coffee or juice to all attendees. Sonic of Cassville will also donate sausage for the event. Monetary donations will be accepted to offset breakfast expenses.
