Schedule breakfast for the Easter Bunny

Wednesday, March 13, 2013

Schedule now for breakfast with the Easter Bunny.

For the Kids' Foster/Adoptive Parent Association will host breakfast with the Easter Bunny from 7 to 9 a.m. on Saturday, March 23 at First United Methodist Church in Monett.

This is the first year for the fundraiser, which will benefit For the Kids, an organization that provides clothing, bedding and some furniture items, toys and personal hygiene items for children coming into foster care.

"Many times, children come into care with nothing but the clothes on their backs," said Lynette Bailey. "Last Christmas, we provided gifts for 180 children, but funds have dwindled and donations have slowed. We are hoping this fundraiser will help generate funds to help some of the 250 foster children and adoptive parents in Barry and Lawrence counties."

Donations are also being accepted for a drawing, to be held in conjunction with the breakfast. Some auction items include tickets to NASCAR, the Kansas City Royals and St. Louis Cardinals events, NASCAR diecast cars, tickets to Six Flags and memberships to the Monett Area YMCA.

Additionally, Schwan's Frozen Foods will have trucks in Monett, Aurora, Mt Vernon and Cassville, selling a variety of frozen foods and dessert items.

"When they add the sales from all four locations, Schwan's will donate a portion of the proceeds to For the Kids," Bailey said.

Tickets for the drawing may be purchased at the Monett Area YMCA or at the door.

Tickets for the breakfast are $4 for adults and $3 for children under the age of 12. The Easter Bunny will be available for photos, and parents may bring their own cameras.
