Mark Twain National Forest prescribed fire set for Thursday

Wednesday, March 6, 2013

Mark Twain National Forest is planning a prescribed fire Thursday about two miles northwest of Eagle Rock adjacent to Roaring River State Park.

The "Chute Ridge" prescribed fire on Mark Twain National Forest's Ava/Cassville/Willow Springs District will include a total of about 275 acres.

The prescribed fire will start at about 10 a.m. and end around 4 p.m.

A final decision to proceed with the prescribed fire will be made Thursday morning based on weather and fuel conditions on the burn area.

This prescribed fire may create a large smoke column that can be seen for several miles. Individuals in this area should be advised that smoke will be in the air Thursday and Thursday night, and there may still be visible flames throughout the night on the burn area.
