Another successful March 1

On Friday, Roaring River State Park celebrated another successful Opening Day. Thousands of visitors from across Missouri and surrounding states visited the park in hopes of reeling in one of the 100 lunkers stocked into the stream this year. On March 1, I visited the lodge and park store and spoke with several individuals who took part in Opening Day. Although the beautiful rainbow trout stocked in the river were the main reason most anglers visited the park, I was pleasantly surprised to learn that the park staff and friendly people from the surrounding communities were also some of the top reasons many of these individuals choose to return to Roaring River year after year.

It is evident how hard the Roaring River staff works to keep the park in tip top shape for visitors. From the men and women who serve meals and prepare guest rooms at the lodge to the maintenance staff that ensures campsites are properly manicured and the park facilities are in working order, the dedicated men and women who make up the Roaring river staff strive to provide each guest and visitor with the perfect experience.

It is wonderful to also know that park visitors appreciate the Cassville Area Chamber of Commerce volunteers who serve coffee on the banks of the stream on Opening Day, the local businesses that offer friendly service and the community members who go out of their way to assist visitors when needed.

We all know how much Roaring River State Park gives to our community each year. It is wonderful to know that we, the members of the local community, also do our part to add to the success of the local park. Thank you to each park staff member who helped prepare Roaring River for Opening Day, each business that welcomed visitors from other communities and each local resident who offered a smile and friendly word to those who visited Barry County on March 1.
