Free trees offered by Arbor Day Foundation

Wednesday, February 27, 2013

Community members who join the Arbor Day Foundation during the month of March will receive 10 free white flowering dogwood trees.

"White flowering dogwoods will add beauty to your home throughout the year," said John Rosenow, founder and chief executive of the Arbor Day Foundation. "Dogwoods are known for their showy spring flowers, scarlet autumn foliage and red berries that attract songbirds during the winter."

The tree giveaway is part of the foundation's Trees for America Campaign. Trees will be shipped postage paid between March 1 and May 31. Planting instructions will be shipped with the six- to 12-inch trees, which are guaranteed to grow or will be replaced at no charge.

Arbor Day Foundation members also receive a subscription to Arbor Day, the foundation's bimonthly publication, and The Tree Book, which contains information about tree planting and care.

Individuals interested in joining the Arbor Day Foundation are invited to send a $10 contribution to TEN FREE DOGWOOD TREES, Arbor Day Foundation, 100 Arbor Avenue, Nebraska City, NE 68510. Community members can also join online at arborday.org/march.

In order to receive the 10 free trees, individuals must send their contributions by March 30.
