William "Glenn" Roberts, 93, of Decatur, Ill., died on Feb. 14, 2013.

Funeral services were Monday at St. John's Lutheran Church, Decatur, Ill. Burial was today (Wednesday) at Oak Hill Cemetery, Cassville.

He was born in October of 1919 in Cassville, son of Edward R. and Vesta Roberts. He graduated from Cassville High School.

He was a Navy Veteran of WWII, and served as Yoeman on an escort ship in the Pacific.

He married Opal Hendricks in June of 1940. Together they raised two daughters. Opal preceded him in death. He then married Jean Steinberger in 1993. She also preceded him in death.

He was a charter member of the First Baptist Church at Park Ridge, a disciple-member of the BellaVista Baptist Church and served as a deacon in many different Baptist churches.

His first job was at the Red Front Grocery in Cassville, which led to a career in the grocery business with Kraft Foods, and for a period of 18 years, he was in charge of all sales for the city of Chicago. Ill. He earned a variety of "merit" awards with the company. Survivors include: one daughter, Debbie Weise and her husband, Russell Weise, of Decatur, Ill.; four grandchildren; and two great- grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, wives, daughter, Kay (Roberts) Naumoff, seven sisters, and three brothers.
