Troy Delbert Tate, 84, of Seligman, passed away Monday, Feb. 18, 2013, in Cassville Health Care and Rehab.
He was born in Osage, Ark., July 1, 1928, the son of Wilburn J. and Minnie I. (Phillips) Tate. On May 26, 1952, at Golden, he was united in marriage to Geniva R. Ussery, who survives.
Additional survivors include: three sons, Jimmy Tate, of Seligman, Danny Tate and his wife, Sherry, of Seligman, and Bobby Tate and his wife, Shaylene, of Exeter; two daughters, Barbara Lawson and her husband, Bill, of Washburn, and Peggy Handy and her husband, Bill, of Gentry, Ark.; five brothers, Joe Tate and his wife, Norma, of Seligman, Melvin Tate and his wife, Marie, of Tracy, Calif., Herbert Tate, of Monte Ne, Ark., Edward Tate and his wife, Shirley, of Seligman, and Jerry Tate, of Kingsman; two sisters, Beverly Ball, of Eagle Rock, and Mary Periman and her husband, JB, of Kingsman; 10 grandchildren; and 16 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers, Floyd, James and Eugene and one sister, Dorothy Periman.
He grew up and received his education in Osage, Ark. He served his country in the U.S. Army during the Korean War and was honorably discharged Aug. 31, 1960. He was a farmer and also worked at Barry County Lumber Company for many years. He was of the Baptist faith.
Funeral services were held today (Wednesday) in Fohn Funeral Home, Cassville. Pastor Ron Shults conducted the services. Burial with military honors was at King Cemetery, Seligman.
