Cassville splits varsity tilts with Seneca

The Cassville Wildcats and Lady Wildcats split varsity tilts with Big 8 Conference opponent Seneca on Feb. 14 and 15.

Cassville's girls pulled out a 42-38 decision, while the boys fell 47-39.

In the girls' contest, Seneca led 12-11 after the first period and held a 23-20 edge at halftime.

A 9-3 push by Chris Shore's club in the third period supplied the needed margin of victory as both team collected 12 points each in the final eight minutes.

Scoring for Seneca: Courtney Cook, 12 poiints; Molli Cooper, 9; Miriana Heath, 6; Bailey Skelton, 5; Elana Wood, 3; and Rachael Butterfield, 2.

Scoring for Cassville: Emily Speakman, 21; points; Sydney Curnes, 11; Kelsey baker, 5; Jatelyn Pitts, 3; and Britani Long, 2.

On Friday, the Wildcats led early but squandered an early 8-6 lead after one period and fell 47-39.

The Black and gold trailed 20-16 at halftime and 30-22 at the final break.

Scoring for Seneca: Logan St. Clair, 14 points; Chance Smith, 10; Elias Roelsema, 9; Kyler Ng, 7; and Seth Harris, 5; and Bradley Jumprer, 2.

Scoring for Cassville: Garrett Kirk, 12 points; Ethan Lowrey, 11; Gabe Kirk, 6; Logan Scott and Ty Craig, 4 each; and Jordan Shore, 2.
