Rev. O. V. Dodson, 99 of Willard, passed away Sunday, February 10, 2013, in Willard Care Center.

Rev. Dodson, the son of Famous Lisbon and Birdie Oaks Dodson, was born in Barry County, Missouri. He attended Barry County Public Schools and graduated from Kimberly High School in Kimberly, Idaho. He attended Southwest Baptist Bible College in Bolivar, Mo., got an A.A. Degree from Oklahoma Baptist University, Shawnee, Okla., in 1942, a B. A. Degree through extension courses from Midwestern Seminary, K. C., Mo., a B. D. Degree and Th. M. Degree from Southern Baptist Theological Seminary, Louisville, Ky., in 1948.

He made definite commitment of heart and life to Christ in the spring of 1933, and was baptized into the fellowship of the Fairview Baptist Church, Barry County, Missouri Baptist Association and surrendered to the Gospel ministry in August of 1933. He was ordained by the Fairview Baptist Church in December of 1935. His pastorates included numerous rural churches throughout his younger days. He was senior pastor of Nevada First Baptist Church, retiring after 24 years of service in 1979, and moved to Willard, Mo., to be near his daughter and family. He served as interim pastor at Grant Avenue Baptist Church, Springfield, Mo., from May to Aug. 1979, and was associate pastor of Willard First Baptist Church.

Rev. Dodson served as pastor of the Cassville First Baptist Church from 1948 to 1955.

His hobbies and sporting interests were bowling, fishing, skiing, swimming and an interested spectator of the following: baseball, basketball, football and tennis. He was a 50-year precipitant of Club Life service award of Southwest Baptist University of Bolivar where he was a trustee of Golden Gate Baptist Theological Seminary. He was past president of the Nevada Rotary Club.

He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Mack and Jack Dodson; two sisters, Bonnie Erickson and May Irene; and his wife, Elaine, the mother of his daughter.

He is survived by: his wife, Janice; daughter Sharon and husband, Butch Wildermuth, of Willard; two grandchildren, Brian and wife, Angela Wildermuth, and Dana and husband Richie Hyde; six great-grandchildren, Bruin, Ethan, Ashton, Gunner, Emma and Elaina; four step-children, Larry and wife, Pam Hartley, Terrie and husband, Bob Gipson, Sherrie and Steve Mills, Kerrie and David Casey; 14 step-grandchildren; and 16 step-great-grandchildren; and two brothers, Buel and wife, Maxine Dodson, Las Vegas, Nev., and Don and wife, Janice Dodson, of Idaho Falls, Id.

Services will be held on Thursday, February 14, 2013, at 11 a.m. in Willard, First Baptist Church, Willard, with Chaplain Steven D. Mills officiating with interment following in the Wesley Cemetery Cemetery north of Willard. Friends may call after 4 p.m. Wednesday in the Ash Grove Chapel where the family will receive friends from 6 to 7:30 p.m.
