Cassville High School senior Chris Hinebaugh represented American Legion Post #118 at the American Legion Zone 3 High School Oratorical Contest in Republic on Jan. 27. The zone includes over 30 counties in southwest Missouri. Hinebaugh, one of four finalists who earned the opportunity to compete at the event, earned second place and received a silver medal. His original oratory was titled "The Tree of Liberty." Hinebaugh expressed appreciation to Post #118 in Cassville and the CHS faculty and administration for their support. On Jan. 30, Hinebaugh also had the opportunity to present his original oratory "Four-Way Test" to the Cassville Rotary Club for consideration in this year's scholarship speech contest. Hinebaugh was awarded the local club's scholarship and will have the opportunity to compete at the Rotary Assistant Governor's level at the end of February.
