Southwest R-5 board approves early graduation requests

Members of the Southwest R-5 Board of Education accepted the resignation of John Maddux, math teacher, during its regular meeting on Dec. 13.

Members also employed Vivian Barber as a substitute cook, Matthew Tripp as a substitute teacher and reassigned Katrina Burns to a part-time cook.

All of those actions were unanimously approved by the board.

Board members also approved the 2011-12 district audit and approved an amended 2012-13 fiscal budget.

The auditing firm of Davis, Lynn and Moots has been retained to conduct the 2012-13 audit.

Board members unanimously approved early graduation requests from Michaela Stone, Carlos Mesa and Brad Robinson.

Following a brief review of the science and social studies curriculums, board members approved those programs.

In other business, board members:

* Approved amending the attendance policy in the school handbook.

* Reviewed the transportation report, food service report, and administrative reports.
