Private pesticide applicator training scheduled

Wednesday, February 6, 2013

A private pesticide applicator training program has been scheduled for Thursday, Feb. 21. Sessions will be held in the Barry County Courthouse in Cassville from 1:30 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8:30 p.m.

Missouri law requires all purchasers and users of restricted-use pesticides for private use to attend a training session in order to be certified. The license is good for five years.

The training is open to producers of agricultural commodities who need to obtain private pesticide license and those who need to renew their existing license. There is no cost for the training, although attendees are now required to purchase the Missouri Private Pesticide Applicator Reference Manual for $15. Individuals who already own a manual and can bring it to the session will not be required to purchase a new manual.

Tim Schnakenberg, University of Missouri Agriculture/Rural Development specialist in Galena, will be the instructor for the program, which is sponsored by the Barry County University of Missouri Extension Council and the Barry County Commission.
