Writing workshops held

A total of 21 professional and aspiring writers joined the instructors of the Writers' Colony's Community Writing Program for the first of six writing workshops at the Holiday Island, Ark., Club House on Jan. 19. The same workshop was offered at the Garden Bistro in Eureka Springs, Ark., on Jan. 22. The workshops are designed for both beginning and established writers. Professional writers Laurie Reichart, of Fayetteville, Ark., and Lucia Hawkins, of Compton, Ark., were among those gathered to work with published author and experienced instructor Mike Hancock. February's workshops will include playwriting, taught by Keith Scales, on Feb. 22, Module 2 of Writing Craft, taught by Hancock, on Feb. 16 and 19, poetry on Feb. 17, and a new two-part workshop, Get Grammar, taught by Hancock, on Feb. 18.
