The Cassville Wildcats basketball team absorbed a pair of losses at the Bolivar Tournament on Jan. 24 and 25.
The Wildcats gave up a 41-38 lead and lost to Aurora on Thursday night, 55-48. Then a dismal night of shooting led to a 49-23 loss to Morrisville on Friday.
After a 14-14 first quarter tie, the Wildcats edged ahead of Aurora, leading 26-24 at the half. Cassville squeezed out another point in the third quarter. Aurora took control down the stretch with a 17-7 final surge. Four Aurora players finished in double figures.
Scoring for Cassville: Ethan Lowery, 12 points; Garrett Kirk, 12; Ty Craig, 9; Logan Scott, 8; Connor Redman, 3; and Cole Beagle and Kayleb Sparks, 2 each.
Scoring for Aurora: Jordan Fronabarger, 15 points; Garret Bader, 14; Corey Gregory, 13; Andrew Parker, 11; and Josh Fronabarger, 2.
On Friday, the scoring disappeared as the Wildcats lost to Morrisville, 49-23. Cassville did not score in double digits in any period and managed only two points in a dismal second quarter.
Morrisville led 29-10 at the half enroute to the 26-point margin of victory.
Scoring for Cassville: Kirk, 8 points; Beagle and Jordan Adams, 4 apiece; Jordan Shore, Lowery and Scott, 2 each; and Kayleb Sparks, 1.
Scoring for Morrisville: Josh Devine, 18 points; Dustin Hagus, 10; Ryan Hill, 9; Jammie Pottorff, 8; and Brevin Hill and Morgan Colvard, 2 each.
