Horace Mark Wright, 89, of Holiday Island, Ark., passed away Monday, Jan. 21, 2013, at Peachtree Village in Holiday Island, Ark.
He was born Dec. 1, 1923, in Greensburg, Kan., the son of Mark and Kathryn (Kelley) Wright. On Feb. 7, 1953, in Greensburg, Kan., he was united in marriage to Gweneth Elaine "Gwen" Wade, who preceded him in death on Nov. 20, 2008. He was also preceded in death by his parents, first wife, Virginia, the mother of their son, Mark, and two sisters, Emeline Bedde and Francis Larkin.
Survivors include: his sons, Mark Wright and his wife, Deb, of Montana, and William Wade Wright, of California; three grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and a sister, Clara C. Wright Lance, of Wichita, Kan.
He received his education in Kansas. He graduated college with a degree in agriculture. He was a wheat farmer most of his life. He moved to Eagle Rock from New Mexico in 1992. They moved to Holiday Island, Ark., in 2005. He was a member of All Faith United Methodist Church, Eagle Rock, and the International Order of Odd Fellows in Kansas, where he served as state secretary and past grandmaster.
Graveside services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, at Promise City Cemetery, Promise City, Iowa, under the direction of Fohn Funeral Home, Cassville. Rev. Leroy Perkins will conduct the services.
