Donald E. Wheaton, 84, of Monett, formerly of Cassville, passed away on Thursday, Jan. 10, 2013, at Lacoba Nursing Home in Monett. He was born on March 22, 1928, in Pulski, Iowa, son of Arlie and Doris (Hamberg) Wheaton.

He graduated from Pulski High School. Throughout his life, he had many occupations, including a union carpenter. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict.

He was an active member of V.F.W. Post #4205, in Cassville. In 1956, he was united in marriage to Bonnie Brooke, in Springfield, and she survives.

Also surviving is his daughter, Janice Lundstrum and her husband, Richard, of Lincoln, Ark. He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Wilbur Wheaton.

Military graveside services were conducted by American Legion V.F.W. Post #4207 of Monett on Tuesday at Oakdale Cemetery in Monett. Memorial contributions may be made to V.F.W. Post #4205, or to the family and entrusted to the White Funeral Home, Cassville.
