Fundraiser to benefit injured deputy

Wednesday, January 9, 2013

The Ozark Mountain Motorcycle Club (OMMC) is currently working to raise funds for Barry County Deputy David Ruark, who sustained a major back injury last year.

OMMC is offering tickets for a drawing for a Henry lever action .22 caliber rifle, which has been provided by A & J Sporting Goods. Tickets are $2 each.

The drawing will be held at the OMMC meeting on Thursday, Jan. 14, and the winner will be notified by phone call.

Ruark, who has served as a Barry County deputy for several years, was injured while operating his lawn maintenance business, which helps support his large family.

When Ruark experienced pain so severe he was unable to stand or walk on his own, he visited and doctor and learned that he has six herniated spinal discs and will require surgery and an extended recovery period to repair the damage.

Proceeds from the fundraiser will be donated to the Ruark family to assist with medical and living expenses.

For more information or to purchase a ticket for the drawing, call or send a text message to 846-3287 or email Tickets can also be purchased from any club member.
