Lewis William Thompson, 71, of Cassville, passed away Tuesday, Dec. 25, 2012, in Mercy Hospital in Springfield.

He was born July 29, 1941, in Springfield, the son of William Henry and Lois Olena (Hawk) Thompson. On June 16, 1962, he was united in marriage to Martha Vanderpool, who survives.

Additional survivors include: three sons, Jim Thompson and Kristine, of Pierce City, Will Thompson and Dawn, of Monett, and Edward Thompson and Carlene, of Willard; one daughter, Loisann Smith and Tim, of Cassville; one brother, Charles Thompson and Ruth, of Cassville; and eight grandchildren.

Preceding him in death were his parents and two sisters.

He received his education in House Rural School, and also Butterfield. He graduated from Cassville High School. He was a life-long resident of Barry County. For 31 years, he was a master mechanic and troubleshooter for Schreiber Foods in Monett, retiring six years ago. He was a member of Butterfield Baptist Church.

Funeral services were held Thursday in Fohn Funeral Home, Cassville. Rev. Jerry Nickle and Rev. David Eaton conducted the services. Burial was at Oak Hill Cemetery, Cassville.
