Assessment forms mailed this week

Tuesday, January 1, 2013

The 2013 Personal Property and Business Assessment Sheets were mailed out on Monday, according to Sherry Sears, Barry County assessor.

Community members who do not receive a form within two weeks are asked to notify the assessor's office.

"We would greatly appreciate it if you would double check the shaded box area, which displays last year's vehicles, trailers, boats and other property you were assessed with," said Sears. "If you have any corrections that need to be made for 2013, please mark out the incorrect items you no longer own and then list the new item purchased in the appropriate areas below the shaded box area.

"Please keep in mind the information you need to report is record ownership on Jan. 1, 2013," continued Sears. "Also livestock and farm machinery do not print out each year, so you will need to relist that current information in the appropriate sections on the back of the form."

Sears reminds all county residents to sign and date their form before returning it. Individuals should also include a telephone number where they can be reached if the assessor's office staff has a question about the assessment.

Residents who are new to the county should call or visit the assessor's office in the Barry County Courthouse in Cassville to request an assessment form.

For more information, call the assessor's office at 847-2613.

Assessment forms must the postmarked or delivered by March 1 to avoid a late assessment penalty.
