Members of the Seligman Area Chamber of Commerce recently held a host of holiday events, including a ham give-away, the annual Christmas train ride and a free community Christmas dinner.

The chamber, along with Seligman merchants, participated in a ham give-away promotion for Christmas. Each time a patron visited a participating merchant they had the opportunity to sign up for a free ham, provided by the Seligman Chamber of Commerce.

Winners were Kendra Outhouse, Freedom Bank; Louise Hendrix, People's Community Bank; Don Weston, Seligman Auto Parts Store; Jahn Willis, White Oak Station; Missy Demmitt, Tom's Flea Market; Ronnie Walters, Norm's Grocery Store; and Tony Amos, Seligman City Office. The winner from Ruby's Liquor Store is not known at this time.

This is the second year the Seligman Chamber of Commerce has hosted the Shop in Seligman promotion.

The chamber joined with the Arkansas and Missouri Railroad to host its annual Christmas train ride on Saturday, Dec. 15.

A total of 110 passengers from Springdale, Ark. and Rogers, Ark., rode the train to the Seligman Community Building and were entertained by Charlie Williams and friends playing and singing music. The chamber provided snacks.

Approximately 110 people from the Seligman area rode the train to Rogers, Ark. and back, where special passenger, Santa Claus, handed out bags of candy to each child on board.

The next train ride will be held on May 11 to Van Buren, Ark., for the spring arts and crafts show. This is an all day event.

More information on the train rides may be obtained by calling 417-662-3612.

The Seligman Chamber of Commerce and the Norman Bryant Foundation joined forces to provide a free Christmas dinner to Seligman residents on Dec. 16 at the Seligman Chamber Event Center, located north of Seligman on Highway 37.

Tom Stephens and his group from Fayetteville, Ark., provided entertainment for the event. The group offered a play, sang Christmas songs and children had the opportunity to follow Frosty the Snowman to Santa's Choo-Choo Train.

Upcoming events at the center include a country dance, a business expo, a trade show and a survival expo.

The 7,500 square-foot building is available for rental. For more information, call the Seligman Chamber of Commerce at 417-662-3612.
