Floyd R. Burns, 85, of Shell Knob, passed away, Wednesday, Dec. 19, 2012, at the home of his daughter.

He was born in McAlester, Okla., Dec. 23, 1926, the son of Floyd and Leon C. (Cook) Burns. In 1944, at Dallas, Texas, he was united in marriage to Billie Jean Hendricks, who preceded him in death on June 7, 2008. He was also preceded in death by his parents.

Survivors include: his daughter, Ronda Girard and her husband, Richard, of Shell Knob; one son, Floyd Robert "Bob" Burns and his wife, Angie, of Oklahoma City, Okla.; one sister, Wanda Harris; seven grandchildren; and several great- grandchildren.

He grew up and received his education in McAlester, Okla. Following high school, he went to Alaska to be a fisherman. He served his country in the U.S. Navy. He was a stockbroker. In December 2010, he moved to Shell Knob to make his home with his daughter.

No services are planned. Cremation arrangements are under the direction of Fohn Funeral Home, Shell Knob.
