Honoring veterans at Christmas

Wednesday, December 19, 2012

The Ozark Mountain Motorcycle Club (OMMC) held a special Christmas party at the Mount Vernon Veterans Home on Dec. 9. Club members distributed popcorn electric razors, CD players, blankets, socks, personal hygiene items, baked goods and other gifts to veterans during the event. Veterans living at the facility offered stories and shared in fellowship with the motorcycle club. "OMMC members enjoyed the opportunity to honor our veterans and let them know that they are not forgotten," said Edgar McCarter, OMMC vice president. "We look forward to visiting them again in July 2013." Gifts distributed to veterans during the event were made possible through donations received from the Barry County community, local businesses and OMMC members. Donations totaled $700.
