Jennifer Privett, court clerk, has been selected as the City of Cassville's 2012 Employee of the Year. She has been employed by the city for five years. Staff members who receive awards at the city's annual banquet are selected by a vote of all city employees. Other award winners included: officer Jason Manning, Officer of the Year; Larry Privett, public works, Shining Star Award; detective James Smith, best attitude; and Stan Patton, public works, teamwork award. Keith Gregory, public works employee, was awarded the Bright Idea Award after developing a new format for finding buried manholes using the city's sewer cleaning machine and a tracing wire. The procedure is now being used as a standard practice to locate infrastructure that is buried by dirt or debris. A special award was presented to Larry Privett, public works, who took part in a walking challenge through the city's insurance company, Midwest Public Risk, from Oct. 8 through Dec. 2. During the time period, he walked 1,248,007 steps. Noelle Harmon, city clerk, presented Larry Privett with the Steppin' Up to the Plate Award during last week's awards banquet.
