Purdy to retire Rollers #23

Democrat Photo by Jared Lankford Purdy High School graduate Addy Roller will have her #23 jersey retired at a special ceremony at 6 p.m. on Dec. 21 at Purdy High School. Roller currently holds four state records and was the Class 2 Player of the Year in 2012.

The Purdy R-2 School District will honor former Lady Eagles basketball star Addy Roller by retiring her #23 jersey in a special ceremony at the high school on Dec. 21 at 6 p.m.

The retirement of roller's jersey will mark the first time the school has bestowed this honor on an athlete.

Roller, a 2012 graduate of Purdy High School, currently holds the Missouri basketball record for career 3-point field goals made (319), 3-point field goals made in a season (120), consecutive games with a made 3-point attempt goal (39) and average made 3-point attempts per (2.75).

For her outstanding efforts on the basketball court, Roller was named 2012 Class 2 Player of the Year by the Missouri Basketball Coaches Association. She was a three-time Class 2 All-State selection and achieved 2,392 career points.

Roller currently plays basketball at Wayne State College in Wayne Neb. She is the daughter of Mike and Kim Roller, of Purdy.
