Area youngsters are invited to celebrate the holiday season with Jolly Ol' St. Nick during the City of Butterfield's fourth annual Dinner with Santa, which will be held at the Butterfield Community Building at 6 p.m. on Thursday, Dec. 6.
"The event is for anybody," said Tracy Anders, Butterfield city clerk. "We have it in town as a community event designed to get the kids and parents out."
This year's event will offer a chili and soup supper, crafts and other activities for children.
"We are trying to prepare for around the same number of children we had last year," said Anders. "We hope to have enough gifts for 150 children."
Gifts will be distributed by Santa Claus. Parents are invited to bring their cameras to the party to capture visits with Santa.
"A lot of people help make this event possible," said Anders. "The council members donate funds and bring food for the event, and the Butterfield Fire Department helps a lot by providing drink containers and bringing Santa to the dinner on a fire truck.
"Without all of those people and donations, we wouldn't be able to make this event happen," added Anders.
Donations are still be accepted for this year's Dinner with Santa. Donations can be dropped off at the office in the Butterfield Community Building or mailed to: City of Butterfield, P.O. Box 235, Cassville MO 65625.
