A Verona woman has been charged with stealing more than $25,000 from a Cassville car dealership.

According to an affidavit of probable cause, Teresa Kay Davis, 50, of Verona, allegedly embezzled funds by altering deposit slips from Les Jacobs Ford in Cassville since Jan. 1, 2010.

During an interview conducted on Nov. 15, Davis admitted to Barry County Sheriff Mick Epperly and Detective Angela Cole that she altered the deposits and took more than $25,000.

The Barry County Sheriff's Office's inmate roster indicated that Davis was arrested and booked into the Barry County Jail on Nov. 27. She was released on a $25,000 cash-only bond on Nov. 28.

Davis is being represented by attorney Stuart Paul Huffman, of Springfield.
