Purdy students deliver Thanksgiving food
The Purdy Family, Career and Community Leaders of America (FCCLA) and Family and Consumer Science (FACS) classes delivered Thanksgiving food to nine families in the Purdy school district for the holiday dinner.
The FACS I classes collected over $314 from students, faculty and staff during lunch the week preceding Thanksgiving.
The students wrote the menu, planned publicity in the school and scheduled the money collection.
A total of 28 children were in the families that were chosen to be the recipients of the Thanksgiving meals.
This project is a part of the FCCLA National Program of Community Service. On Monday, Nov. 19, 14 FACS I students and FCCLA members shopped for the food at Ramey Supermarket in Purdy and delivered the baskets.
Students who participated in the project were: Susan Vang, Sarah Ly, Yaneth Martinez, Carly England, Madison Easley, Kailey Petit, Hannah Sehrbrock, Katie Moller, Jennifer Kessiman, Delanie Williams, Jasmine Smith, Jennifer Hernandez, Tiffiany Conway and Nat Alden. Teachers helping were Michelle Daniels and Molly Strickland.
Myra McGee, advisor, accompanied the students in shopping and delivery.
