Dennis R. Essary, 78, of Monett, passed away Sunday, Dec. 2, 2012, at his home in Monett.
He was born on June 11, 1934, at Cape Fair, the son of Clarence Efton and Flossie Jewel (Hunter) Essary. On April 26, 1957, at Crane, he was united in marriage to Fairy Patton, who survives.
Additional survivors include: two sons, Donald Ray Essary and his wife, Connie, of Monett, and Martin Daniel Essary and his wife, Nicole, of McDowell; four grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers, Clovis Essary, Burle Essary and William Essary, and six sisters, Alene Rainwater, Marcine Terry, Maxine Eaton, Pauline Friend, Darlene Greenway-Wheeler and Norma Dahms.
He grew up in Cape Fair and received his education at Galena, where he attended high school. He served his country in the U.S. Army. Following his service, he returned to southwest Missouri, where he has lived all his life. He was an entertainer. He was of the Pentecostal faith.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday in Fohn Funeral Home, Cassville. Pastor Doyle Russell will conduct the services. Burial with military honors will be in Oak Ridge Cemetery, Cassville.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. today (Wednesday) in Fohn Funeral Home, Cassville.
