The Reeds Spring Lady Wolves basketball team downed Cassville 35-31 in the third place game of the Blue Eye Tournament on Dec. 1.
The Lady Wildcats came all the way back from 11 down to take a 27-25 lead with 4:02 left in the game, but Reeds Spring finished with a 10-4 run to earn the victory.
The Lady Wildcats started slow against the taller Reeds Spring team and trailed 15-4 at the end of the first period. With the Cassville defense collapsing on Reed Springs' 6'3" center, Megan Rasmussen, Autumn Flaugh lit up the scoreboard with 9 points in the first quarter.
Cassville fought back with some classic Chris Shore basketball, slowing the pace and working the ball inside. Emily Speakman scored a game high 17 points to key the Cassville comeback.
The Lady Wildcats opened the fourth period with a 7-0 run and took a 27-25 lead when Katelyn Pitts fed Speakman for a layup in the lane.
The Lady Wolves then scored three consecutive baskets to open a 31-27 lead. The Cassville girls cut the lead to a deuce twice in the final 1:37 but could not draw even as the clock ran out.
The Lady Wildcats fell to 1-2 on the season with their fourth place finish at the tournament.
