Christmas comes to Cassville
The Cassville Christmas Parade, which is sponsored by the Cassville Area Chamber of Commerce, will begin at 6 p.m. on Saturday.
Parade entries will begin lining up at the Cassville High School parking lot at 4 p.m. The parade will proceed down Main Street and conclude at the intersection of Clover Street.
Prizes will be awarded in religious, non-religious, commercial, horse-drawn and marching band divisions. Special awards will also be presented for single unit vehicles. Each entry will be allowed no more than three minutes in front of the judges.
In addition to sponsoring the annual nighttime Christmas parade, the Cassville Area Chamber of Commerce will sponsor two performances of the Christmas Show at the Crowder College Cassville Campus Community Building this week.
"The Christmas Show will offer some traditional songs and some other fun stuff," said Greg Beck, who serves as director for the annual Christmas Show. "We will have traditional songs that were performed by older artists. Others have been performed by newer artists giving them a new twist.
"The Bell Choir will perform during this year's Christmas Show, and Mary Richmiller's Cassville High School choir will offer pre-show entertainment," said Beck. "There will be something for everyone."
Pre-show entertainment by the Cassville High School music department will begin at 7 p.m. on Thursday and Friday.
The Christmas Show, which features HomeTown Sound and the RedHots and offers 20 holiday tunes, will start at 7:30 p.m.
Members of the HomeTown Sound include: Carol House, piano; Jo Ellen Fielding, keyboard and flute; Jack Reed, lead guitar; Bruce Nickle, bass; Jim Craig, trombone; Rocky Mills, trumpet; Steve Lyons, sax; Brenda Beck, percussion; Greg Beck, drums; and Don Bowen, backing vocals.
The RedHots are Jennifer Evans, Debbie Nickle, JaDonna Hoover and Sara Sandavol.
