Luncheon to feature local businesses

Wednesday, November 28, 2012

The Cassville Area Chamber of Commerce will hold its final quarterly luncheon of 2012 at the Barry County Museum, located on Highway 112 south of Cassville, at noon on Monday, Dec. 10. Instead of a formal speaker, the event will give several businesses an opportunity to show off their products.

"The idea for this luncheon came about as I was thinking about all that our local businesses, in particular retail businesses, have to offer that others may not know about," said Mindi Artherton, chamber executive director. "I know a lot of times businesses shy away from hosting a traditional quarterly luncheon because they don't want to speak for 20 minutes.

"With this option, they can still share their products, but are not required to give a long formal presentation," Artherton continued. "I also think it will be great for 10 lucky people to walk out with some cool door prizes."

The Sandwich Factory, which operates in the Cassville Golf Course Clubhouse, will provide a taco bar for the luncheon. The lunch cost is $8 with $1 of the fee donated to the Barry County Museum.

"Community members should plan to attend this luncheon because not only will they see and learn about products that are available locally, they also have a great chance at winning a door prize valued at $25 or more," said Artherton. "Attendees will also enjoy a great lunch and have the opportunity to network with other chamber members and potential customers."

Featured businesses and organizations will include: the Barry County Museum; Carey's Cassville Florist; the Cassville Democrat; Corporate Business Systems; For the Birds; Forever Yours Embroidery; Gussied Up Boutique; Kristine's Consignments; Smith's Clothing; and Whitley Pharmacy.

"Hope everyone will take advantage of the last quarterly luncheon for the year," said Gary Whyte, chamber president. "There will be a chance to come hear from area businesses that want to be in the spotlight.

"If you haven't made it to a luncheon, this is the one to make for a chance to win big prizes," continued Whyte.

The Cassville Area Chamber of Commerce's "The Chamber: Today and Beyond" program is designed to showcase contributions made to the local community by area businesses, industries and organizations.
