For the second consecutive year, Wildcat fans are invited to donate new, packaged toys at the Cassville High School boys basketball team's season opener. Fans who donate a toy will be admitted to the games at no cost on Dec. 4.
"Anytime you get an opportunity to do something good for someone who really needs it, you feel a tremendous sense of accomplishment," said coach Danny Powers. "Our kids are really looking forward to using basketball to make a difference in the community."
Wildcat fans who attend the season opener will also have the opportunity to receive a free T-shirt. Fastrip and Commerce Bank have donated 75 event T-shirts to be given to the first 75 fans who arrive with a new, packaged toy.
Community members are invited to donate toys for children ranging in age from infant to 14 years old. Toys collected through the effort will be distributed by OACAC to local families in need.
"Hopefully, we can continue working with area businesses and organizations like OACAC to make the lives of our community members better," said Powers.
The Cassville Wildcats will open their season against non-conference foe Blue Eye High School on Friday, Dec. 4. The junior varsity game will begin at 6 p.m. A varsity game will follow the junior varsity contest.
Toy collection and T-shirt distribution will begin prior to the junior varsity game.
OACAC benefits families in Barry and surrounding counties. Families in need of assistance are invited to call 417-862-4314 or visit www.oacac-caa.org.
